The union of the Nigeria of journalists (Nuj), FCT Council, received the news of the death of the former president of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (Nawoj), chapter FCT, with profound shock and sadness. Madam Stella Okoh Infreets.

He died on Monday 6 October 2025 at the Abuja National Hospital after a prolonged illness. Until his disappearance he retired from the Federal Ministry of Information and joined the True verdict online verdict.

Stella, 64 years old, greeted by Ubiaja, area of ​​the local government of the south -est of Esan in the state of Edo.

In a declaration signed by the Secretary of the Council, Comrade Jide Oyekunle expressed the heartfelt condolences of the Council to the family, colleagues and members of the Nawoj Fct Chapter of the deceased.

The Nuj FCT ​​Council described the deceased former president as a dedicated and passionate media professional whose contribution to the progress of women’s journalists and the cause of ethical journalism will be remembered for the years to come.

The death of the journalist veteran is a monumental loss for the journalistic profession, in particular women in the media who looked at her as a pioneer, a mentor and a supporter of gender equity in the editorial staff and in society in general.

“The advice Nuj FCT ​​is deeply pain from this loss. It was a pillar of strength and inspiration for many journalists, in particular the younger generations. His leadership, courage and commitment for the ideals of truth and correctness in journalism remain specimens”, reads the note.

His death comes at a time when his experience and wisdom are more necessary in the current efforts to strengthen professionalism and inclusiveness in the Nigerian media panorama.

During his mandate as president, he demonstrated a passion, professionalism and commitment uncommon to progress the cause of women’s journalists and promote ethical journalism throughout the FCT and beyond.

The Nuj Fct Council prays for the rest of his soul and for God to grant his family and colleagues the fortress to bear this irreparable loss.
