Lagos-based Obidient movement denies false publication of Exco list – THIS UPDATE

The National Council and the South West Advisory Council of the Obidient Movement, OM, have declared false reports circulating in some newspapers and online publications that the list of names released by the Lagos Obidient Movement lacked extensive consultation in its compilation by executive members of the Lagos State Coordination Council of the movement.

South West Coordinator, Hon. Seyi Sowunmi and members of his South West Advisory Council, Pastor Ime James and Oloye Adegboyega Adeniji, as well as the Coordinator of the National Support Advisory Council, March Oyinki, in a statement said, “we categorically reject the false publications and call on Nigerians and Obidients in Lagos to unite to build a new Nigeria that is possible in our time of life”.

According to them, the South West Consultative Council carried out extensive consultations among stakeholders, including financial contributors in Lagos, particularly elected members of the House of Representatives in Lagos State and 2023 aspirants on the Labor Party platform, as well as advocacy groups, to ensure that members from each local government area of the state were represented in the nomination process before a consolidated list was forwarded to the Council national.

They noted that the national coordinator of the OM, Tanko Yinusa, was not involved in the nomination of the members and further stated that the drawn up list is the painstaking product of five months of efforts to “identify the movement’s brightest, most articulate, passionate and enterprising members among local government advocacy groups and the general public,” adding that “the list was released on October 1, 2025 at the National Council led by Yinusa for ratification. not fully included in the draft would be taken into consideration in ongoing meetings to resolve disputes that may have arisen from the previous exercise.”

Pointing out that the publications in circulation are inaccurate and not representative of its members, they urged members and the general public to ignore them and wait for the list that would emerge from a more transparent process.
