‘Silence Is Golden’ —Teju Babyface’s cheating suggestion sparked wild reactions online

Nigerian comedian and TV presenter, Teju Babyface, has sparked heated debate online after advising married men not to admit to their wives if they have ever cheated.

Teju Babyface, in a trending clip from his latest podcast shared on Friday evening, argued that one act of infidelity does not define a man’s character or make him a “cheater”.

The humor dealer in the video warns men against confessing to their partners just to ease their guilt, and warns that such honesty could destroy their marriage.

“If your wife or husband is cheating, let alone the wife. Especially men, if your wife is cheating, don’t say it. Don’t admit it. Never do it,” he said.

“This is one of the most devastating and destructive things you will ever do in your life.” Teju Babyface added.

He argued that making a confession after an affair was an act of “manipulation” and not honesty. He continued by accusing those who use religion as an excuse to claim to have misread the Bible.

”People will even quote the Bible to support the idea of confession. They will say that ‘if we confess and repent, then our sins are forgiven’. Sorry, that is for God and from God, not for humans. It is a confession to God, not to man. Do not do it.

“You’re not honest; you’re manipulative. What you’re really doing is offloading your burden of guilt, not helping your partner. You’re looking for someone else to carry the burden of your guilt,” the comedian explained.

But Teju Babyface’s video post drew mixed reactions on social media, with the majority of online users criticizing it for “promoting infidelity and secrecy.”

@RealMissTee: “So, a guy cheats once and suddenly it’s a ‘mistake’? If a woman did that, she’d be branded for life. Double standards a lot?”

@OluTheTherapist: “Teju Babyface is right. Confession without context only destroys trust. Sometimes silence is actually compassion.”

@NairaNii: “My guy basically said, ‘cheat a little but don’t talk.’ This generation is finished.”

@AmakaTalks: “Whatever happened to accountability? If you cheated, own it. Don’t use motivational quotes to avoid guilt.”

@BabaNoStress: “Lowkey, he’s not lying. One mistake shouldn’t define a man. It’s not like you’re serially cheating.” ‍♂️
