RCMP investigating arson in the Halifax area, say the fire is linked to 2 other fires in the past week – Halifax

RCMP are investigating an arson in the Halifax area that they believe is connected to an arson and attempted arson earlier this month.

Officers and firefighters were called to a structure fire at a home in the 400 block of Marketway Lane in Timberlea, NS, around 3:05 a.m. Sunday. When they arrived, they said the house was engulfed in flames.

No injuries were reported.

This is not the first arson investigation the RCMP has conducted in the area, having responded last week to two separate fires they believe are connected to Sunday’s incident.

RCMP responded to a report on Sept. 5 that Molotov cocktails had been thrown at a home on the same block. The house was also engulfed in flames, and no injuries were reported.

Two days later, on September 7, police received a report of a suspicious person on the same block.

Through their investigation, police learned a man was seen leaving his residence carrying a burning cloth. The man dropped the cloth and left the area in a vehicle. A jug containing accelerant was also left in the yard.

Police said in Sunday’s incident, a dark-colored SUV was seen leaving the property after the fire broke out.

However, a search for the suspect and other vehicles is also underway in connection with the three incidents.

The public is seeking information regarding a small blue vehicle that was seen leaving the area on the morning of the September 5 fire. They are also seeking information that could identify a man wearing black pants and a brown jacket who was seen driving a gray Honda Civic on Sept. 7.

Police have increased their presence in the community, with marked and unmarked police vehicles patrolling the neighborhood.
