Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Marshal Shehu Mohammed has issued a stern warning to officers, saying discipline and professionalism are non-negotiable between commands.

Speaking in Owerri on Tuesday, Mohammed formally laid out his mandate, clarifying expectations, addressing operational gaps and calling for strict ethical compliance across the force.

Represented by the Corps Commander, Corps Headquarters, Babatunde Kazeem, lamented a worrying decline in discipline, professionalism and effective control in several field commands
at a national level.

He said indiscipline manifested itself in misconduct, unethical practices, abuse of authority and extortion
and reckless enforcement behavior that erodes public trust.

Describing such conduct as “unacceptable”, he stressed that the body was established not only to do so
enforce traffic laws, but to save lives and serve with integrity.

He said: “Professionalism is not optional in this force; it is mandatory.

“The public must see us as firm but fair, authoritative but humane, fearlessly enforcing the law
favor, never for personal gain or intimidation.

“Discipline will be strengthened, accountability strengthened, ethical standards will be respected and laudable
behaviors rewarded and violations sanctioned with fairness and firmness”.

Imo Sector Commander, Oji Udensi, thanked the Corps Marshal for “strengthening command and control across all FRSC formations.”

He described the initiative as “a decisive step towards strengthening self-discipline and personnel
reorientation to strengthen public trust in the body.”

Udensi urged motorists to remain law-abiding and cooperate with the FRSC as it continues to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities.
