A delegation from the Mbaise Policy Roundtable (MPR) embarked on an assessment tour of the ongoing rehabilitation of the Aba Branch–Mbaise–Okpalla road, with a stop at a local business in Afro Oru market, Ahiazu Mbaise, to assess the impact of the project on commercial activities in the area.

During the visit on 24 February 2026, the delegation visited Ogazikon Pharmaceuticals, a community pharmacy owned by key Mbaise stakeholders, High Chief Frank Ezeji and High Lolo Tina Chukwu.

The MPR team, led by its President, Prof. Eddie Oparaoji, included notable members such as Mazi Desmond Obani, Hon. Uche Agomuo and Mr Moses Nwagwu. The group interacted with pharmacy staff and discussed the potential economic benefits the road project could bring to businesses operating along the corridor.

Speaking during the visit, a staff member of the pharmacy, Mr Franklin Udochukwu, expressed satisfaction with the pace of work on the road.

According to him, the ongoing reconstruction is expected to improve accessibility and create a more conducive environment for businesses within the area.

Members of the delegation observed visible signs of progress on the stretch from Aba Branch to Ahiara Interchange, noting that the speed of construction work appeared encouraging.

However, the team argued that a full evaluation of the project would only be possible upon its completion.

The visit, according to the delegation, is part of MPR’s broader commitment to monitor infrastructure development and support initiatives that promote economic growth within the Mbaise community.

The positive feedback from Ogazikon Pharmaceuticals, the group noted, reflects growing optimism among local business owners who believe the road’s rehabilitation will significantly improve business in the area.
