The Tanimu Turaki-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction has asked party members to ignore reports that executive committees in Ogun, Ekiti and Ondo states have been disbanded.
The directive was issued by the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobongin a statement released Saturday in Abuja.
Dissolution declared invalid
Ememobong described the reported dissolution of state executive committees as illegal and lacking legitimacy.
According to him, the move undermines ongoing reconciliation efforts aimed at resolving internal disagreements within the party.
He said the action was not recognized by the Turaki-led National Working Committee and therefore has no legal or political effect.
Party members urged to ignore announcement
The PDP spokesperson called on party officials at the state, local and district levels to continue carrying out their official responsibilities.
He urged members and the general public to ignore the announcement and consider it invalid.
Ememobong warned that attempts to dissolve elected leaders could worsen divisions within the party at a time when leaders are seeking unity.
The leadership emphasizes the need for party unity
The Turaki-led leadership also reiterated its commitment to reconciliation within the party.
According to the statement, efforts towards peace and stability are necessary to reposition the party for future elections.
Ememobong added that the ongoing dialogue within the party is focused on strengthening the organization and ensuring it remains competitive in upcoming electoral contests.
