The Taminu Turaki-led National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged President Bola Tinubu and the security hierarchy to adopt a “whole of society” approach in solving security challenges in the country.
The National Publicity Secretary of the faction, Ini Ememobong, in a statement in Abuja on Thursday, advised the government to address security challenges in a proactive manner.
Ememobong said the advice was very important, following the 2026 Global Terrorism Index recently released by the Institute for Economics and Peace.

He noted that in the report, Nigeria was ranked fourth in the world based on a survey of the impact of terrorism and one of the two countries with the highest number of deaths due to terrorism.
Ememobong called for programs and policies capable of bringing about immediate negative peace (cessation of attacks and incidents) and providing the basis for positive peace (voluntary and free harmonious coexistence).
According to him, the main task of every government is to protect lives and property.
Therefore, he urged the President to use his ‘political skills’ to offer solutions to the country’s security challenges.
