Saborit was sent off with 17 minutes left, but AEK’s 10 men held firm to take the tie to extra time, but they couldn’t hold on and Sarr finally had the last word.

The hosts played the final minutes with nine men after Petros Ioannou was sent off for a dangerous tackle on second-half substitute Jean-Philippe Mateta, who appeared for the first time alongside the club’s record January signing Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Palace will face Fiorentina in the quarter-finals of the competition.
