The All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured Nigerians of a well-organised and transparent national convention, with preparations completed ahead of the major political event.
The party has revealed that about 8,453 delegates from Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are expected to attend the convention scheduled for March 27 and 28 in Abuja.
Speaking at a press conference, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who is also co-chairman of the convention’s Media and Publicity Committee, said all agreements have been finalised.
He noted that the convention will take place at Eagle Square, Abuja, and will include leadership elections, policy discussions and strategic planning for the future of the party.
Idris described the event as more than just a political meeting, saying it represents a critical moment for reflection, decision-making and consolidation within the ruling party.
According to him, the APC is committed to achieving a credible and orderly convention that reflects democratic principles and institutional discipline.
He underlined that all committees involved in organizing the event completed their tasks, ensuring good coordination and efficiency throughout the proceedings.
The minister reiterated the party’s commitment to unity, saying cohesion and collective responsibility remain central to the continued growth of the APC.
He said the convention will also strengthen the party’s internal democracy and strengthen its structure for future political engagements.
Idris highlighted the theme of the conference – “Unity in Progress, Consolidating the Agenda of Renewed Hope” – describing it as a reflection of the party’s vision and direction.
He explained that the theme aligns the party’s internal processes with national governance priorities under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
The minister commended Tinubu for his leadership and contribution to the party’s development, stressing that his agenda of renewed hope continues to guide political direction and national development efforts.
He added that the convention will provide an opportunity to evaluate achievements and align party structures with the government’s broader objectives.
Idris further said that APC has evolved into a strong political platform that can manage diversity and adapt to changing political dynamics.
He noted that the party’s ability to manage leadership transitions and internal processes reflects its maturity as a democratic institution.
The APC, he said, remains focused on strengthening its bases while maintaining its position as a leading political force in Nigeria.
