David Ombugadu returns to PDP

Former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, David Ombugadu, has left the All Progressives Congress (APC) because the party was unable to open an electronic registration portal for its supporters.

Ombugadu, who contested the 2019 and 2023 gubernatorial elections on the PDP platform, stated this on Thursday during a visit to the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents Chapel in Lafia.

He said the closure of the registration portal made it difficult for his supporters and colleagues to officially join the APC, thereby hampering his political aspirations within the party.

“When I joined the APC, I did not demand to produce a regional administrator or seek any position at the party level.

“My request is for the party to open an e-registration portal so that my supporters can register to become members, but the portal remains closed,” he said.

Ombugadu explained that his decision to leave the APC after his brief visit was motivated by the need to realize his ambition to become governor.

He announced his return to the PDP and declared his intention to contest the 2027 gubernatorial election on the party’s platform.

“I fully return to the PDP. We have the people and the blueprint that can be implemented to carry out development for the country,” he added.
