The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected as false and damaging reports that its national president, Senator David Mark, has resigned from his position.
This is what we read in a statement by Paul Mumeh, of the National President’s Media Office.
The party described the claim as “an insidious fabrication” orchestrated by individuals it described as “puerile, weak and reckless propagandists”.
The party said Mark remains the effective national president of the party, stressing that there is no plan for him or the ADC leadership to step down.
“The claim that Mark has resigned exists only in the distorted imaginations of those intent on spreading falsehoods and creating confusion within our party,” the party said.
The party stressed that the ADC leadership remains united, focused and resolute in its mission to strengthen democratic values and provide credible leadership to Nigerians.
He warned against attempts to destabilize the party, stressing that such efforts are driven by fear of the ADC’s growing influence and emerging political transformations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The ADC, its leadership and the majority of Nigerians are unyielding in their collective resolve to resist any plot to undermine Nigeria’s multi-party democracy or impose a one-party system,” it said.
Reaffirming its commitment to democratic ideals, the party called on Nigerians to ignore the rumors and remain confident in the leadership and stability of the ADC.
