The Lagos government announced traffic diversions for the implementation of the Tinubu project

The Lagos State Government has announced partial road closures across major parts of the city to facilitate the implementation of major infrastructure projects on April 8 and 9, 2026 by President Bola Tinubu.

According to the advisory, traffic will be affected on April 8 between 9am and 1pm during the inauguration of the Opebi–Mende Link Bridge, with disruption expected around the Opebi, Allen, Ikeja and Ojota corridors.

On April 9, the movement will be impacted in two phases. The operation of the Tolu School Complex, scheduled for 9am to 1pm, will affect traffic around Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle. A separate event later in the day, from 16.00 to 19.00, is expected to cause traffic jams on the Victoria Island axis, including the area around the Eko Hotel.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said it would deploy officers to regulate traffic and assist motorists traversing the affected routes.

Authorities urge road users to cooperate with traffic officials and adhere to the directions to ensure smooth movement during the period.
