The Lagos State House of Assembly has resolved to remove Mr Olalekan Onafeko from the post of Clerk of the House of Representatives with immediate effect.
This followed deliberations held by members of parliament and was adopted by vote at the plenary session on Tuesday.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mudashiru Obasa, said the removal was in line with the established rules that guide tenure in the Assembly.
Obasa explained that Onafeko’s term of office had expired so the decision was a procedural step and not a disciplinary action.
Onafeko has served as Clerk of the DPR since January 14 2022 and oversees the administration and coordination of DPR activities.
The House Speaker praised the former Clerk’s contributions, noting that his tenure witnessed significant legislative engagement and institutional developments in the Assembly.
