Tinubu appointed Joseph Tegbe as minister of power

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Mr Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power.

He will replace Adebayo Adelabu who resigned last week.

This was stated by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

However, the appointment still must be confirmed by the Senate.

Tegbe, from Oyo State, is a fiscal and economic reform expert with over 35 years of experience in the public and private sectors.

He is a former Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, leading initiatives in fiscal policy reform and institutional transformation.

He has advised government agencies and private sector organizations on strategic reform, regulatory frameworks and investment structuring.

Tegbe currently serves as Director General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), which coordinates bilateral development cooperation with China.

His experience includes involvement in the electricity sector, particularly in regulatory and institutional reforms involving key agencies.

The president said the nominations are expected to strengthen ongoing efforts to reform the electricity sector, improve the stability of the electricity grid and attract sustainable investment.

He expressed confidence that Tegbe would use his expertise to advance reforms and improve outcomes in the sector.
