The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Imo State Chapter, has congratulated Comrade Isaiah Kemje Benjamin on his re-election as the National President of the association following the successful conclusion of the 2026 Triennial National Congress of SWAN Delegates in Kaduna.
The chapter also congratulated Ikemefuna Asika on his elevation as the South East Zone Vice President and Ijeoma Nwante who was elected as the National Financial Secretary.
In a congratulatory message signed by Secretary Tunde Liadi, Imo SWAN President, Cosmos Chukwuemeka, described the success of the congress and elections as another important step in strengthening the Association.
Chukwuemeka said Benjamin’s re-election gives him another opportunity to consolidate the achievements of his first term, particularly in the areas of member welfare, professional development, unity and strengthening of state chapters.
He urged President SWAN to run an inclusive administration and continue to build stronger relationships with sports bodies and relevant stakeholders for the benefit of members and Nigerian sports journalism.
Imo President SWAN also congratulated Asika, describing her rise as Vice President of the South East Zone as a responsibility to foster greater cooperation between chapters in the zone.
He charged Asika to work closely with the five state chapters, listen to their concerns and ensure that the South East remains united and adequately represented at the national level.
Chukwuemeka equally congratulated Nwante on her election as Financial Secretary, urging her to bring transparency, accountability and diligence in the management and documentation of the Association’s finances.
Chukwuemeka wished the newly elected national and zonal officials a successful tenure and assured them of the support and cooperation of the Imo State Chapter.
