Nottingham Forest defeated Chelsea with a crushing 3-1 victory at Stamford Bridge on Monday afternoon in a crucial English Premier League match.
The visitor dealt a serious blow to the hosts’ European hopes.
Forest took an early lead just two minutes into the match when Nigeria’s Super Eagles’ Taiwo Awoniyi headed home.
That was before Igor Jesus converted a penalty in the 15th minute following a review by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
Chelsea had a chance to respond before half-time, but Cole Palmer missed a penalty in first-half stoppage time after youngster Jesse Derry was fouled in the area.
Derry was carried off on a stretcher after a terrifying head-to-head clash with Nottingham Forest defender Zach Abbott on his debut.
Awoniyi sealed the deal in the 52nd minute, completing his brace to put the visitors firmly in control.
Chelsea pulled one back late on through Joao Pedro, who scored a stunning consolation goal in extra time with a scissors kick to reduce the deficit.
Despite dominating possession, Chelsea failed to convert their chances, with sections of the home crowd leaving Stamford Bridge early as frustration mounted.

The defeat extends the Blues’ run to six games without a win, including defeats against Brighton, Manchester United, Manchester City, Everton and a draw against Fulham.
The result leaves Chelsea in ninth place on 48 points, while Forest move away from the relegation zone on 42 points, continuing their fine form under Vítor Pereira. [Eagle Online]
