2027: APC Support Groups Support Shehu Sani for Kaduna Central Senatorial Ticket

A coalition of advocacy groups and stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has endorsed former senator, Shehu Sani, for Kaduna Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The coalition, which includes youth and women groups, party mobilisers, grassroots campaign structures and community leaders from the seven local government areas of Central Kaduna, announced the approval at a strategic stakeholders meeting held in Kaduna.

Speaking on behalf of the coalition, its coordinator, Comrade Musa Ibrahim, said the decision followed extensive consultations across the senatorial district, adding that Sani’s past performance in the National Assembly between 2015 and 2019 played a key role in the approval.

He said the former senator was considered based on what the groups described as “visible achievements, courage and people-oriented representation” during his tenure.

According to him, Sani has facilitated several campaign projects across Kaduna Central, including the construction and rehabilitation of primary health centres, educational support initiatives, rural infrastructure development and empowerment programs targeting youth and women.

“After careful assessment of the political situation in Kaduna Central, the coalition has decided that Senator Shehu Sani remains the most experienced, acceptable and credible aspirant capable of uniting the party and ensuring APC victory in 2027,” he said.

He further noted that Sani’s record of activism and advocacy on national issues, as well as his strong connection to the grassroots, also contributed to the endorsement.

Another stakeholder, Hajiya Zainab Mohammed, said women and youth groups across the district supported the former MP for her accessibility and inclusive leadership style while in office.

He added that many beneficiaries of scholarship programs, empowerment programs and social interventions initiated during his tenure still identify with his leadership.

The coalition urged other aspirants within the APC to embrace unity and conduct themselves in a manner that will strengthen the party ahead of the elections.

He also called on party leaders to deepen internal cohesion and avoid actions that could create divisions in the preparation of the primaries.

Political activities have continued to gain momentum in Kaduna State as consultations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, although the APC is yet to formally launch its primary processes.
