At least 11 people died in a car crash at the Eruku Bridge along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway on Sunday.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in the state, Oludare Ogunjobi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Abeokuta by the command’s General Education Officer, Mr Odunsi Afolabi.
Ogunjobi said a gold colored Toyota vehicle with registration number GGE 722 KJ was involved in the accident.
According to him, the vehicle somersaulted, plunged from the bridge and trapped all the passengers inside.

He said personnel from the FRSC Itori Command Unit were immediately deployed to the scene for rescue operations.
The sector commander stated that the victims consisted of 10 men and one woman.
“FRSC personnel with the support of the local community dismantled the vehicle to evacuate the victim’s body,” he said.
Ogunjobi added that the body has been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital mortuary in Ifo.
He attributed the accident to suspected drunk driving and overloading.
The sector commander advised motorists plying the Abeokuta-Lagos route to be careful, especially during night travel.
