UN Introduction
As the Second World War raged, a tremendous international effort was underway to help rebuild the shattered world.
Founded in November 1943, the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA) began its work before the United Nations itself was created.
Faced with famine, disease, mass displacement and destruction, it helps meet critical survival needs and offers hope to millions of people struggling to rebuild their lives.
In addition to emergency aid, UNRRA pioneered experiments in international cooperation.
