Members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers who are card-carrying members of the All Progressives Congress in Oshodi-Isolo II Federal Constituency in Ejigbo on Tuesday resolved to vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for Speaker and frontline House of Representatives aspirant Kehinde Bamigbetan in the forthcoming APC primaries.
Bamigbetan, who met with members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), B and D branches, Ejigbo/Isolo, under the leadership of comrade Alhaji Bashir Olufemi Olowu and Alhaji Nurudeen Oladejobi, promised a bus ownership program in partnership with the Consumer Credit Corporation, established by President Bola Tinubu.
He also pledged to revive the cooperative grant program so that wives of transport workers can run small businesses.
The interactive session began with an opening prayer, followed by a warm keynote address by Alhaji Bashir Olufemi Olowu. Formally introduced the Hon. Bamigbetan, underlining the purpose of the visit and urging members to listen carefully to evaluate KOK’s vision. He expressed strong confidence in Bamigbetan as “the people’s choice,” encouraging the union to consider aligning with him.
Bamigbetan expressed deep gratitude to the leadership and entire executive council for the opportunity to engage with the union.
He introduced himself as a devoted political disciple of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and a long-time resident of Ejigbo.
Recounting his deep roots in the community, Bamigbetan highlighted key interventions dating back to 2003, when he served as Deputy Chief Press Secretary to then Governor Bola Tinubu. He played a vital role in facilitating the reconstruction of the dilapidated Idimu Road and effectively channelizing erosion into the Ilufunmi Canal. These projects, he noted, have transformed the area and restored property values.
He paid tribute to HRM Oba Morufu Adisa Adekunle Ojoola, who appointed him as the President of Ejigbo LCDA. As president, Bamigbetan launched the impactful Vision 3×3 agenda, which has delivered tangible dividends to residents.
Key initiatives include the provision of free school uniforms, desks and benches and nutritious meals for primary school children on Mondays, produced by local tailors, carpenters and bakers.
His administration also built Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Primary School in Ageke, Oladele Alake Primary School and sponsored students for the Joint Matriculation Examinations and General Certificate of Education.
He said he led a pro-worker and artisan government that supported bricklayers and welders in the construction of 182 culverts by Ejigbo masons to boost the local economy.
In their responses, union members overwhelmingly supported the Hon. Bamigbetan, and many fondly call him “Mr Talk and Do”. They testified to his integrity and past support of the union, particularly during his tenure as LCCA president, when he empowered members through revenue collection roles.
Members pledged their 100% support while offering constructive advice, urging him to address past electoral shortcomings, strengthen grassroots mobilization and address security concerns in polling units, especially in Okota.
In his remarks, Alhaji Bashir Olufemi Olowu commended Bamigbetan for his unwavering accessibility and support for NURTW. He recounted instances where KOK was by his side, even at midnight, to resolve critical issues, describing him as a reliable ally who made union dividends accessible. In a firm show of solidarity, Alhaji Olowu said: “If KOK does not deliver on these promises, hold me responsible. But I believe it will deliver on its promises.”
