Phyna reveals the dark side of supporting a family after BBNaija win

Reality TV star and Big Brother Naija winner, Phyna, has spoken candidly about the challenges she faced with her family members after achieving fame and financial success.

During the live session, the reality star revealed that she spent a huge amount of money to support her relatives after her win on the reality show, believing that she was doing the right thing by helping people around her. According to him, he freely fulfilled requests for financial assistance without much thought about saving or investing.

Phyna laments that there are no elderly family members around to encourage her to secure her future financially. On the contrary, he admitted that many relatives constantly contact him with requests ranging from personal needs to large projects, including business support and community-related expenses.

Recalling her experience, she said the situation changed when she started refusing some requests. The reality star explained that refusing to fulfill every request caused misunderstandings and tension within the family, making him seem like a “bad person” even though he had previously been generous.

He also referred to a previous disagreement involving a home roofing project for his father, and noted that one of his first major conflicts arose when he suggested choosing a more affordable roofing option instead of the expensive option requested.

Reflecting on the ordeal, Phyna said she finally realized her finances were dwindling and began reducing the amount she gave. He added that the experience taught him hard lessons about boundaries, financial management, and the expectations that often come with sudden wealth and fame.
