Atiku visited Amaechi after the ADC presidential primaries

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Thursday visited former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi at his residence in Abuja.

Atiku has over the week defeated Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen in the presidential nomination of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 general elections.

The former Rivers state governor has since rejected the results of presidential primaries held across the country over alleged vote buying and harassment of his supporters.

Atiku, who confirmed the meeting through a post on his X account, said the two leaders spoke about the nation’s current challenges and the way out of these problems.

He also wished the former minister a happy birthday.

He wrote: “Beyond warmth and friendship, we had a deep and frank conversation about our country’s troubled condition, growing economic suffering, insecurity, and the pressing responsibility of patriotic Nigerians to continue to engage in finding solutions that can save our country from decline and despair.

“I also congratulated him on his birthday yesterday and said that Arsenal’s historic win came at the right time.

“In true Rivers hospitality, he apologized for not having enough time to prepare Fisherman’s Soup, a delicacy I was now promised when we returned for the second leg.”
