Meta eye AI wearable devices are booming with new smart pendants being developed

Meta is reportedly developing an AI-powered pendant that could begin testing as early as next year, signaling the company’s continued push into the fast-growing wearable technology market.

According to an internal memo obtained by The Information, the device is part of a broader effort to expand Meta’s portfolio of artificial intelligence-powered hardware beyond smart glasses.

The reported pendants are expected to utilize technology from Limitless, an AI hardware startup acquired by Meta in late 2025. Limitless became known for its wearable pendants that can be attached to clothing or worn around the neck, allowing users to record conversations and interact with AI-powered features designed to aid memory and productivity.

Meta previously said the acquisition would help accelerate its work on AI-enabled wearable devices, a field increasingly seen as a potential successor to smartphone-based computing.

By embedding AI into devices that can be worn throughout the day, the company hopes to create more natural and continuous interactions between users and digital assistants.
