Forget summer transfer, Osimhen not playing Super Eagles friendly matches

Nigeria senior team coach Eric Chelle caused a stir in Turkey when he suggested that striker Victor Osimhen will not be available for the Nigeria senior team for upcoming friendlies against Poland and Portugal respectively due to a possible transfer from Galatasaray when the window opens in the summer.

His quotes did not sit well with Galatasaray fans, forcing Osimhen to set the record straight with an Instagram post saying that the coach was quoted out of context and that he remains committed to representing the Turkish team.

Chelle’s claim, now debunked by Osimhen, could be true, but it is also normal to note that Victor Osimhen has not played a single friendly match for the Super Eagles since the 2-2 draw against Saudi Arabia in 2023.

Meanwhile, he has missed 13 of the team’s friendly matches for various reasons. The matches against Poland and Portugal respectively will make it 15 consecutive friendly matches he has skipped.

His teammates are aware of his constant excuse for missing friendly matches, but not Chelle, who has a very close relationship with Osimhen and always supports his star in any decision he makes.
