Former Barcelona and Spain star Pedro Rodríguez has announced his retirement from football at the age of 39.
Pedro has posted a video on social media to confirm he is hanging up his boots after a career playing for Barcelona, Chelsea, Roma and Lazio.
“Being part of the best Barça in history was a privilege, we won everything and amazed the world. My heart will always be a Barcelona fan,” he said, according to Yahoo Sports.
Pedro said goodbye in style with an elegant message to all those who have helped him throughout his career and added: “I feel that it is the right time. Thanks to my teammates, the best thing has not been the titles, it has been you.
“Thanks to the clubs that opened their doors to me and the coaches who trusted me. Thanks to the fans for so much love and thanks to my children, my family and my friends. Thank you football for making me so happy.”

Barcelona responded to his publication with the message: “You will always be part of our history. Thank you for everything you have given to football and for every moment you have shared with us. We wish you all the best in this new chapter.”
Pedro had a phenomenal career at Barcelona that saw him win five La Liga titles, three Copa del Rey crowns and the Champions League three times with the Catalan giants. He was also part of the Spain team that won the 2026 World Cup.
The winger played a total of 321 games for Barcelona and scored a total of 99 goals and won 20 titles during his stay at the Camp Nou.
