New striker, left back and number 10 tops Chelle’s agenda for the Super Eagles

Nigeria senior national team head coach Eric Chelle has picked three main areas where he wants more options in his team after the recent round of friendly matches, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Nigeria began their run of matches in the summer with a successful defense of the Unity Cup title in London beating Zimbabwe 2-0 before a 3-0 victory over Jamaica in the final.

They traveled to Poland and tied 2-2 in another friendly match. Chelle suffered his first loss in regulation time as the team’s coach when he narrowly lost 1-2 to Portugal in their final test match of the summer.

Chelle has now prioritized three areas where the team needs more ideas or fresh legs to bring something different to the current generation in the position.

Left back is one of the key areas as Bruno Onyemaechi needs a capable substitute after Zaidu Sanusi’s poor performance. The FC Porto player has not been able to recover his shirt since he lost it in the AFCON.

We can also exclusively reveal that he is looking for a new number 10 to back up Alex Iwobi, after noticing that they fail to create anything meaningful every time the Fulham man has a poor game or is unavailable.

A new top striker in Victor Osimhen is also high on their priority list. He currently sees the duo of Terem Moffi and Akor Adams as, at best, supporting the forwards and wants a capable back-up to Osimhen in attack, although Paul Onuachu fails to impress him.
