The new defender reveals the secret of his excellent performance with the Super Eagles

Banik Ostrava defender Abdullahi Bewene has revealed the secret behind his impressive debut for the Nigerian senior team in the recent friendlies against Poland and Portugal respectively, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Coach Eric Chelle handed the 22-year-old a late ball to the Nigerian senior team for the matches, after a series of withdrawals left the team without a recognized right-back.

Bewene made a good impression in training and on his debut started in Poland, and was not out of place, earning praise from Chelle and his teammates.

He was a second-half substitute against Portugal and, like against Poland, had no problems against a star-studded team, earning more praise than in his first game.

“I can’t say exactly what drove my performance because the coach gave me instructions that made it easier for me to adapt. But I must say that one of the senior players in the team, Moses Simon, played a very important role,” he said from his base in Jos in an exclusive chat.

“My agent spoke to him (Simón) when I was called up and made sure I was comfortable in camp, in training and even during the game. The advice I will never forget was when he told me to enjoy it, make mistakes and learn from it.”
