French side Stade Reims have completed a deal for Nigerian defensive midfielder John Otomewo from Hapoel Jerusalem, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Otomewo has already passed the routine medical examination and will travel to France on July 14, where he will complete the procedures for the operation, which will later be revealed by the club.
The 19-year-old impressed as a holding midfielder for Israeli Ligat ha’Al side, and Reims believe he will help in their bid for promotion back to the French top flight at the end of next season.
Born in Sapele, the right-footed midfielder has established himself in the Israeli top flight this season, making 13 league appearances and picking up minutes in the relegation round as Hapoel struggled to secure their status. He has also shown an eye for goal in knockout competitions, scoring a goal in the State Cup.
We can exclusively reveal that he is among the players selected by Nigeria senior national team head coach Eric Chelle for the under-23 team. Chelle also acts as the team’s coach.
Otomewo joined Hapoel Jerusalem’s senior team in December 2025 after initially arriving in the club’s under-19 team earlier in the season.
