Super Eagles striker in talks to join Belgian side Genk

23-year-old Nigerian international striker Rafiu Durosinmi is heading towards an exit from Belgian club Genk, six months after joining the team from Czech Republic side Viktoria Plzen, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

According to the Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, he is the transfer priority of Genk, who are willing to pay 10.5 million euros to make him the most expensive signing in the Club’s history.

Pisa signed Durosinmi from Plzen earlier this year for around €11 million, including bonuses. The big Nigerian has not made a significant impact on the Apennine Peninsula, scoring just one goal and one assist in 12 league games.

Despite the poor performance, Genk believe he is worth a lot as they have followed his progress since his days in the Czech Republic and see him in the mold of Paul Onuachu and Tolu Arokodare, two Nigerians who achieved great things at the club.

He has a contract with Pisa until 2030. However, after the club’s relegation to Serie B, he is looking for a new challenge and, according to Belgian media, he is open to signing for Genk. The negotiations are complicated, but the Italian club has already reduced its financial demands in recent days.
