Ghanaian actor jailed for removing bridge railings to sell as scrap

Ghanaian actor Emmanuel Nii Adom Quaye, known as Strika, has reportedly been sentenced after he was allegedly caught removing iron railings from the Kwashieman footbridge in Accra.

Strika, who gained international recognition for her role in the 2015 Netflix war drama ‘Beasts of No Nation’, was reportedly captured by residents near a pedestrian bridge in August 2026.

A video purportedly showing the incident circulated on social media on August 29, with residents seen confronting the actor on a footbridge.

Reports claim Strika allegedly cut the iron fence, reportedly with the intention of selling it as scrap.

Following the incident, Strika’s former handler, Official Gunshot GH, reportedly spoke to the actor over the phone and later shared the latest news with his YouTube viewers.

During the conversation, Strika reportedly told her former nanny that she had appeared in court and had been sentenced to one year in prison. He also said he had been told that he would be transferred to Nsawam Prison.

“Father, I have been jailed. I went to court and was sentenced to one year. They were supposed to transfer me to prison, but I was told that it would be on Monday. I will be taken to Nsawam Prison.”

However, reports circulating in Ghana differ regarding the length of the sentences imposed. Although Strika reportedly stated that he received a one year sentence, some other reports stated that he was sentenced to seven years.

These discrepancies have not been independently clarified, and details of the court proceedings are not yet available to verify the exact sentence.

During the reported phone conversation, Strika also expressed regret for some of his past actions and asked for help from GH Gunshot Officials and his colleagues.

The development sparked a backlash on social media, with several users expressing concern and sympathy for the actor, who rose to international fame after playing the character Strika in Beasts of No Nation alongside Idris Elba.

This 2015 film brought the Ghanaian actor significant international attention as a child artist. His reported arrest and alleged conviction have renewed public interest in his life after his initial success in the film industry.
