Nigeria’s Super Eagles have arrived in Bissau and are set to conduct their final training session ahead of Tuesday’s crucial 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash against Guinea-Bissau.
Sports247 reports that the Nigerian delegation traveled to Guinea-Bissau on Sunday following a 2-1 comeback win over Madagascar in their Group L opener at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
The team departed Victor Attah International Airport aboard a chartered ValueJet flight at around 5:00 pm and arrived in Bissau the same evening.
Coach Éric Chelle and his players are expected to complete their final preparations at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Septiembre, venue of Tuesday’s match.
The session will provide the technical team with the opportunity to make final tactical adjustments and evaluate the players ahead of the Group L clash.
Nigeria comes into the match with three points after overcoming an early deficit against Madagascar. Debutant George Ilenikhena restored parity in first-half injury time before Moses Usor completed the comeback in the second half to give the Super Eagles a winning start to their qualification campaign.
Guinea-Bissau also opened its campaign with a victory, defeating Tanzania 2-0 and edging out Nigeria on goal difference. That result added importance to Tuesday’s match as both teams look to strengthen their position in the group.
The Super Eagles will be looking for another positive result away from home, especially after Guinea-Bissau recorded a historic 1-0 victory over Nigeria during the AFCON 2023 qualifiers in Abuja. Nigeria subsequently responded with a 1-0 win in Bissau in the second leg.
Tuesday’s match is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Nigerian time at the 24 de Septiembre Stadium.
As preparations enter their final stages, all eyes are on Bissau as the Chelle team looks to maintain their winning start and take another important step towards AFCON 2027.
