SGF congratulates Qadiriyya Movement which is 76 years old and nurtures 5000 members in Kano


The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has congratulated the African Qadiriyya Movement on its 76th Mauqib commemoration in Kano.

The event took place on Saturday at the Jamiatul Muqadda Qadiriyya Center in Kano, where thousands of followers joined together to celebrate.

George Akume, the founder of the All Support Group Network for APC, was represented at the event by the group’s national coordinator, Mukhtar Bala Ibrahim.

No fewer than 5,000 people attending the event were fed by the SGF to express gratitude for the achievements of the Qadiriyya in Nigeria and other parts of the world.

“I am here before you today representing the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dr. George Akume, who is also the founder of the All Support Group Network for APC, which I head.

“I express to all of you his message of congratulations on the commemoration of the 76th Mauqib here in Kano.

“Even more so, I am happy to announce to you that His Excellency Dr. George Akume, is so happy that he has offered to feed up to 5,000 participants attending this event,” he said.

The leader of Jamiatul Muqaddas Qadiriyya Center in Kano performed a special prayer for Senator Akume for joining them in the celebration and feeding 5,000 people.

Mauqib is the annual commemoration of the founding of the Qadiriyya Sufi order, celebrated most prominently in Kano.

Massive processions also take place in the streets of Kano to celebrate and honor the life, teachings and birthday of the Order’s 12th century founder, Sheikh Abdul Qadir Al-Jilani.
