African champions Senegal defeated Nigeria’s Sand Eagles 6-4 in an entertaining friendly match at Kaduna’s Murtala Mohammed Square on Saturday night.
Abdullahi Hassan was Nigeria’s standout player, scoring all four goals for the Sand Eagles.
Mamadou Sylla led Senegal’s rout with a hat-trick, while Mandione Laye Diagne, Ninou Jean Paul Diatta and Asane Ba also scored for the African champions.

The two teams will meet again at the same venue in another friendly on Monday as Nigeria steps up preparations for their 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash against Ghana’s Black Sharks.
Abdullahi Isa’s side will host Ghana in the first leg in Kaduna on Saturday 10 October, before traveling to Accra for the return leg on Saturday 17 October.
The winner of the two-legged tie will ensure qualification for the final phase of the 2026 CAF Beach Soccer African Cup of Nations, which will be hosted by Senegal.
