The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has restructured and expanded its National Executive Council (NEC) to strengthen the administration, coordination and effective management of Islamic affairs in Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the NSCIA Public Affairs Officer, Abbas Jimoh, the development was among the major decisions reached during the General Assembly of the Council held in Abuja.
The NSCIA, under the leadership of its President General, His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar and other Muslim leaders, have approved the revamp and expansion of the National Executive Council of the Council.
The General Assembly, attended by Muslim leaders, including traditional leaders of the Islamic faith and chief imams of central mosques in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), approved the renovation and expansion.
Under the new agreement, Prof. Mahfouz Adedimeji has been appointed as Deputy General Secretary (National), Prof. Salisu Shehu as Deputy General Secretary (International), Mr. Abeny Mohammed (SAN) as Deputy General Secretary (Corporate), while Dr. Bala Muhammad has been appointed as Deputy General Secretary (Administration).
The board also appointed Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu as Public Relations Officer (PRO), Hajia Sekinat Lawal as Deputy Public Relations Officer (DPRO), Dr. Mairo Mandara as Development Officer and Arch. Abdullahi Musa as Deputy Development Manager (Technical).
Additionally, Prof. Fatimah Abdulkarim has been appointed as head of family affairs.(NAN)
