The Imo State Football Association (Imo FA) has warned football stakeholders across the state against organizing or participating in competitions not affiliated with the association.
The warning was contained in a circular dated 4 September 2025 and addressed to Imo FA Zonal Football Coordinators, LGA Football Administrators, Autonomous Community Football Representatives and the Imo State Football Referees Council.
The association, in the circular, instructed organizers of football competitions at various levels to ensure that their tournaments are properly affiliated with the Imo FA.
It later announced affiliation fees of N100,000 for state level competitions, N70,000 for zonal competitions, N50,000 for LGA competitions and N30,000 for autonomous community competitions.
The Imo FA said the measure is necessary to ensure proper coordination and regulation of football competitions across the state.
He warned that affiliates participating in non-affiliated tournaments or competitions would be subject to sanctions, describing defaulters as “enemies of football in Imo State.
The association has advised competition organizers who require further information or guidance to contact the Imo FA secretariat, LGA football administrators, autonomous community football representatives or zonal coordinators.
The circular brought compliments from the president, executive committee and staff of the Imo State Football Association.
