Military plane crash: NOA urges Nigerians to honor fallen NAF officers – Blueprint Newspapers Limited


The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has urged Nigerians to honor fallen personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) by observing with dignity and respect the three days of national mourning declared by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The agency also said it will step up efforts to ensure respect for the national flag, following the president’s directive that the flag be flown at half-mast during the mourning period.

NOA Director General Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu stated this in a condolence message to the NAF and the families of the personnel who died in the plane crash in Igbokoda area of ​​Ondo State.

Issa-Onilu described the incident as a painful loss to the nation, saying the fallen officers embodied courage, discipline, patriotism and commitment to national service.

He said their sacrifice in service to the country would not be forgotten, urging Nigerians to use the mourning period to reflect on the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and their responsibility to uphold national unity and patriotism.

The NOA boss said the national flag remains a powerful symbol of Nigeria’s sovereignty, unity and shared identity, stressing the need for citizens to accord it the respect it deserves, particularly during the period of national mourning.

He expressed his condolences to the Chief of Air Staff, NAF officers and personnel, as well as the families of the deceased, assuring them of the agency’s solidarity.
