Osimhen resumes training ahead of the Kasımpasa and Barcelona matches

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has returned to training as he continues his recovery from a groin injury ahead of Friday’s Süper Lig clash against Kasımpaşa.

The Nigeria international joined his teammates during Wednesday’s training session at the Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay facilities, giving the Turkish champions a boost ahead of another important league match.

Osimhen, unavailable due to injury, took part in the initial stages of training before continuing with an individual program supervised by the club’s medical staff.

Galatasaray manages Osimhen’s return

The training session began with a dynamic warm-up before the players moved on to 8v2 passing drills divided into three groups.

The team then worked on ball possession before concluding the session with a small-sided match.

Although Osimhen trained with his teammates at the start of the session, the club is expected to continue to carefully manage his workload as he works towards full fitness.

The 27-year-old is being assessed with a possible return in mind against Kasımpaşa at Rams Park on Friday 9 October.

Galatasaray faces the Barcelona test

Osimhen’s return comes at an important stage of the season, with Galatasaray also preparing for an important UEFA Champions League match against Barcelona four days after the league match.

His gradual return will encourage coach Okan Buruk, although the club is unlikely to rush the striker back if he is not deemed fully ready.

Midfielder Mario Lemina and goalkeeper Günay Güvenç completed full training with the team, while defenders Wilfried Singo and Roland Sallai continued their rehabilitation programs away from the main group.

Galatasaray will carry out another training session on Wednesday as they continue their preparations for the match against Kasımpaşa.

Osimhen’s condition will be carefully monitored ahead of Friday’s match and the subsequent Champions League match with Barcelona.
