Victor Osimhen returns to Galatasaray training ahead of Barcelona’s Champions League clash

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has returned to training with Galatasaray as he continues to recover from injury and works to regain full fitness ahead of a crucial period for the Turkish champions.

Sports247 reports that Osimhen’s return to the training ground will be a welcome development for Galatasaray, who hope the Nigerian international can recover enough to take part in their UEFA Champions League match against Barcelona on October 13, 2026.

Ahead of the Champions League assignment, Galatasaray will face Kasimpasa in the Turkish league on Friday, October 9, providing another potential opportunity for Osimhen to continue his return-to-play programme.

The Nigerian striker suffered the injury during Galatasaray’s 3-1 victory over Başakşehir, despite scoring in the match. He had also scored in Galatasaray’s subsequent 3–2 home win over Göztepe before his fitness problem became a concern.

Osimhen was subsequently unavailable when Galatasaray suffered a 3–1 defeat to Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Champions League.

His absence has been felt by the Turkish champions, who have experienced mixed results during this period. Galatasaray recorded a narrow 1-0 victory over Kocaelispor in September, but then suffered a tough 4-0 defeat against Trabzonspor.

With the clash against Barcelona approaching, Osimhen’s gradual return to training provides an encouraging development for Okan Buruk’s side as they prepare for another demanding Champions League match.

The Nigerian striker remains an important attacking option for Galatasaray as he has demonstrated his scoring influence since arriving at the club.

However, his immediate priority will be to complete his recovery and improve his fitness before returning to competitive action.

Galatasaray will therefore closely monitor Osimhen’s progress in the coming days as the match against Kasimpasa will come before the much-anticipated Champions League match against Barcelona.

For the Super Eagles striker, the focus is now on getting back to full fitness and back on the pitch as Galatasaray go through a crucial stage of their domestic and European campaigns.
