Police arrested former Governor Okorocha at an Abuja hotel for alleged forgery and impersonation

Nigerian Police officers on Monday evening arrested former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha at the REIZ Continental Hotel in central Abuja.

Ripples Nigeria concluded that the arrest was in connection with charges of criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.

The arrest came after the former governor reportedly repeatedly avoided police invitations in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation, prompting police to obtain an arrest warrant for him.

Okorocha was initially invited to Army Headquarters, Abuja, on September 2, 2026, but his appointment was rescheduled to September 8 at the request of his lawyer, a date he also failed to comply with.
