The wait is almost over. CFFL will open CFFL Uprise Season 4 on Sunday, November 1, 2026 in Lagos, launching nine teams across eleven weeks of Sunday competition.
The season arrives with new energies on and off the field. The Uprise, personally founded by two-time Super Bowl champion Osi Umenyiora, joins the CFFL as a seasonal partner. Together, they mark a sea change for a league that has grown from a grassroots idea in Lagos to a recognized name in African flag football.

“Kickoff is the day every team in this league works toward, and Season 4 is the biggest yet. We have more teams on the field, a better home for them, and more ways for fans to follow every play. This league belongs to our teams and our community, and on Sunday we will be able to show Lagos what we have built together.” Aseobong Larry Etah, Vice President of Competition and Legal Preparedness, CFFL
A season built around the fans
CFFL has designed Season 4 so that there is something to follow every day of the week. Matches will be recorded, edited and posted to YouTube and TikTok, with highlight clips posted daily. Each week, the league will also highlight breakout talent through its Player of the Week, Play of the Week and Team of the Week features, post a Sunday recap on the CFFL’s new website and confirm upcoming weekend’s games each Thursday. Season 4 also features a dedicated stats page for players and teams, a new CFFL website and a new YouTube channel, giving fans, families and media a single place to follow the league from week one to the final whistle.
Why is this season important?
Flag football is low-contact, inclusive and has Olympic recognition, debuting at the 2028 Los Angeles Games. The CFFL has already engaged more than 500 young athletes and has seen its players contribute to Nigeria’s strong performance at the 2025 IFAF African Flag Football Championship. The fourth season builds on that foundation, with a focus on player development, new opportunities in coaching, refereeing and content creation, and stronger links with schools and communities.
“I’ve been waiting for this all offseason. The standard keeps rising and I want to show what our team can do in front of our fans.” Fortune Meremoth, captain/defensive player for the Spartans.
“Each new season is an opportunity to raise expectations and set a higher standard. That’s what we want to see in CFFL Season 4: greater competition, greater visibility and more opportunities for the athletes who are shaping the future of this sport. The talent is here. Our responsibility is to ensure the opportunities match their potential.” —Osi Umenyiora, Two-time Super Bowl champion and founder of The Uprise.
Games, team announcements and game content will be posted on CFFL channels prior to kickoff. Follow @cfhlnigeria and @cfflafrica_ and visit www.cffl.africa for updates.
