Enugu Sports Club and Uyo Club recorded impressive victories in the Niger Inter-Club Tennis League (ENIC) East, defeating Oguta Recreation Club and Safari Recreation Club respectively, while the contest between Nnewi Sports Club and Port Harcourt Club remained unresolved due to fading lights.

Enugu Sports Club produced a dominant performance to defeat Oguta Recreation Club 5-0, underlining their strength in the inter-club competition.

Uyo Club also enjoyed a convincing match, brushing aside Safari Recreation Club by the same 5-0 margin to record a comprehensive victory.

However, the match between Nnewi Sports Club and Port Harcourt Club proved to be more competitive, with both teams tied at 2–2 as the contest continued.

The veterans doubles match between the two clubs will conclude on Sunday morning, the outcome of which will determine the final outcome of the match.

Meanwhile, Port Harcourt Club holds the lead in another doubles match, having won the first set 6-2 and established a 4-2 lead in the second set before play was suspended due to bad light.

The match is expected to resume on Sunday morning, giving both sides another opportunity to resolve the dispute on the pitch.

The latest results highlight the competitive spirit of the Eastern Niger Inter-Club Tennis League, which brings together participating clubs to test their strength, foster camaraderie and strengthen the development of lawn tennis through inter-club competition.

With some matches still to be concluded, attention will shift to Sunday’s restart as Nnewi Sports Club and Port Harcourt Club look to complete their outstanding matches.
