Super Falcons Beat Cape Verde Away, Qualify For WAFCON 2024

Super Falcons of Nigeria have qualified for the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

In Tuesday’s second leg playoff, the Falcons beat Cape Verde 2-1 to progress 7-1 on aggregate.

In the first leg played few days ago, the Falcons triumphed 5-0.

After Cape Verde took an early lead, Esther Okoronkwo and Rasheedat Ajibade scored in the second half to secure the win.

Ivania Moreira gave Cape Verde the lead in the eight minute which they held going into halftime.

In the 62nd minute Okoronkwo drew the Falcons level before Ajibade netted the winner on 93 minutes.

The Falcons have now qualified for every edition of the WAFCON since it started in 1998 in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, teams who have already picked qualification tickets for WAFCON 2024 are champions South Africa, Botswana, DR Congo, Ghana and Algeria.

Others who have also booked their qualification tickets are Zambia, Tanzania, Senegal and Mali.
