Omeruo Criticizes Coach Peseiro’s Tactics Following Super Eagles’ Loss in AFCON Final

Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo didn’t hold back his frustration following final defeat to Ivory Coast.

The defender was not pleased with Coach Jose Peseiro’s tactics, saying the team was too defensive.

Nigeria’s Super lost 2-1 to rejuvenated Elephants in the 2023 AfricaCup of Nations (AFCON) final.

Speaking to reporters, Omeruo expressed disappointment at Nigeria’s failure to clinch the AFCON trophy and hinted at a need for tactical adjustments in future matches.

“I think we were defending from the start of the game, and it is a long time to play defensive. One mistake and there is a goal.

“Already when you are defending from the start the team is already tired. For me, I feel bad that we did not get the trophy.” He concluded.
