Two late goals made a world of difference for Robo Queens in the encounter, but while the Lagos-based side celebrated their miraculous victory, their visitors from Ekiti State are crying blue murder.
FC Roboโs heroine of the match, Shade Ijadusi, was grinning from ear-to-ear after the final whistle, but Ekitiโs Lydia Onuochira and Oluwatoyin Olowookere alleged that they lost to โfaultyโ officiating.
Onuochira moaned: โWe played well. We really played well, but, should I say, it was a mistake from the referee, who gave them a penalty.
โThe ball hit a Robo player in the chest, not even our player and not in the hand. And the first goal, the referee just gave it to them.
โOur player was on the ground. Which was supposed to be our free kick, but the referee did not blow. The next thing, they just shot the ball into the net. It was so glaring. It was so obvious. Should I say it was home advantage?
โWell, we are bottom of the league now, but all hope is not lost. Something can still be done. Our next two games are home and then one away. Maybe if we win the next two home matches and get a point away.
โI believe, by the grace of God, we will try our best to get some points. All hope is not lost.โ
Her enthusiasm was echoed by Olowookere, who externuated: โThe girls really tried; they tried their best. I canโt really say what happened, but I believe thereโs still hope for us.
โWeโll try our very best in our next two home matches. Thereโs still hope for us.โ
