The Minister of Sports, Senator John Enoh, has approved a proposal by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to hire a new coach for the team.OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Earlier today, a meeting of almost four hours between the hierarchy of the football house and the minister reached a conclusion for the renewal of the technical team of the team led by Finidi George.
Finidi has been told he will step aside to replace a new coach, expected to be foreign, as the country tries to get its World Cup qualifying campaign back on track after a faltering start to the qualifiers.
The newly appointed Finidi failed to pick up a win in the recently concluded matches, with a draw against South Africa in Uyo and a 1-2 loss to Benin Republic. The results leave them fifth in the six-team group, four points behind leaders Rwanda.
As expected, the coach was not all smiles when he left the office and avoided the approach of the media to discuss the outcome of the meeting. He has been told to agree to work with a new coach or be fired less than two months into his one-year coaching contract.
The NFF can use the performance clause in your agreement to terminate your contract should you refuse to accept the terms agreed between the NFF and the minister.
