At least two people have been rescued from a collapsed building in Abuja.

Acting Director-General of the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD), Mrs. Florence Wenegiemewho, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.

He said the incident occurred at 6:45 p.m. on Friday at Close 10, Drive 5, Prince and Princess Estate Second Gate, Gudu District, Abuja.

The FEMD boss added that the agency activated the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the FCT Fire Service immediately received an emergency call about the building collapse.

The Director General, who was accompanied to the scene by the Director of the Development Control Department, Mr. Mukhtar Galadima, explained that the building that collapsed was a duplex that was under construction.

โ€œHowever, two people who were in a separate bungalow behind the building were trapped by the debris of the collapsed building.

โ€œThe trapped workers were rescued by the FEMD SAR Team who cut the window guard and pulled them out,โ€ he said.
