FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY AKURE (FUTA) RELEASES PRE-DEGREE ADMISSION FORM FOR 2024/2025 ACADEMIC SESSION

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Pre-Diploma in Science (PDS) Programme, Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), Federal University of Technology, Akure.

The main objective of this programme is to provide appropriate arrangements for the continuing education of candidates holding the required qualification (School Certificate) or its equivalent.

Conditions of admission

1. To be admitted to the scientific pre-degree program, the candidate must possess:

(a) SSCE/WASSCE/GCE/NECO with a minimum of Credits in at least five subjects in two (2) sessions, including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The other subject which should be relevant to the proposed course, among Biology or Agricultural Science, Economics and Geography.

(b) Success in physics is only acceptable in the following departments:

• Property management
• Industrial design
• Urban and regional planning
• Agricultural economics and extension
• Ecotourism and wildlife management
• Fisheries and aquaculture technology
• Soil and crop pest management

(c) A pass in chemistry is only acceptable in architecture

2. To be admitted to the University’s undergraduate program after completing the PDS program, candidates must, in addition to (1) above:

(a) Obtain the JAMB unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) form

(b) Choose FUTA as your first choice

(c) Obtain a minimum overall mark of 50% in the final examination of the PDS session.

(d) Obtain the minimum JAMB aggregate score for admission in the UTME at 100 level and satisfy the requirements of the University Admissions Committee (UAC).

DURATION OF THE PDS PROGRAM

The program will take place over a two-semester academic session.
