The Economic and Financial Crimes Eradication Commission (ECFR) has stepped up security measures at its Lagos offices in anticipation of planned protests.
However, details regarding the nature of the protest and the organizing group remain sketchy at this time.
Officers of the Lagos State Anti-Crime Squad – Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and members of the Department of State Services (DSS) were among the joint security forces deployed along all routes leading to the EFCC office on Awolowo Road in the Ikoyi area of the state on Friday.

EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale said on Thursday that intelligence obtained by some civil society organisations indicated that a former governor and two former ministers were behind the protests against the commission.
This comes after the commission raised the alarm that several groups were planning a series of protests against it.
The agency has faced criticism in the past over the effectiveness of its investigations and prosecutions.
The planned protests may be related to specific cases or broader dissatisfaction with the EFCC’s performance.
