Gunmen kill two people, kidnap five people in Ondo

Gunmen on Friday killed two people and kidnapped five others along the Ifon-Owo Expressway in Ondo State.

The victims were the commercial bus driver and a female passenger who were shot dead at the scene by the criminals.

A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was among five passengers taken to an unknown destination by the gunmen.

An eyewitness told reporters on Saturday the bus was coming from Anambra State and heading to Akure when it was attacked.

Ondo State police spokesman Fumilayo Odunlami-Omisanyan confirmed the incident to newsmen in Akure.

He said that currently police officers are combing the forest to search for the kidnappers and hostages.
